Circulation as a Metric
Introduced by: Jessie Upp | Depth: Medium thread
Jessie's alternative to growth-based metrics: measure the flow of value — time, money, gratitude, resources — as it circulates through a network, rather than how much a node accumulates.
The Conversation
Jessie: "What I have been doing is not measuring through growth, but measuring through circulation. The new metric."
What Gets Measured
In DayBalancer, circulation includes:
- Gratitude exchanged
- Jobs placed
- Money exchanged
- Time exchanged
These metrics roll up from individual to project to network to ecosystem.
Jessie: "Metrics of success is circulation, not growth of one individual."
The Nameless One's Resonance
The Nameless One: "Another theme that came up for me was measuring energy density — how much energy is flowing through a unit of mass? A throughput of power."
Jessie on Visualization
Jessie: "That circulation is everything, and it has to be visualized."
Pete on Life Force
Jessie: "In my mind, it's life force. You're tracking life force."
Pete pushed further: "It's actually service to the highest power. Attendance to the health and well-being of everything."
