Ecosystem Layer Company
Introduced by: The Nameless One | Depth: Medium thread
A concept for a nameless commons layer that connects sovereign local businesses and individuals, creating more value together than any could alone.
The Conversation
The Nameless One described a meeting happening the next day:
The Nameless One: "We're meeting tomorrow to talk about starting an ecosystem layer company. A nameless ecosystem layer company."
The concept emerged from seeing local businesses unlock dramatic value through agentic AI (see Trucking Company Story, Metalworking Shop Story):
The Nameless One: "If we have all these little businesses, each of which can be saving tens of thousands of dollars, or realizing unrealizable dreams this week... and they can do that better if we're sharing this commons layer."
Key Properties
- Doesn't take away sovereignty of the sub-pieces
- Is its own thing — self-governing
- Connects local businesses with remote experts ("superheroes that don't know the people on the ground")
- Creates value that sustains people working on what they care about most
The Nameless One: "When I think about someone like Pete going to get a job working for a dumb extractive company that's gonna fire them as soon as the going gets tough, versus using your unique genius as a sovereign part of a network of lots of things that value that."
The Full-Time Work Vision
The Nameless One: "It should happen in a way that everybody's not homeless and starving to death."
The aspiration: everyone working full-time on their "most favorite things in service of the collective."
